(Repost from 6/25/12)
I was reading Genesis and noticed that after Cain killed Abel, God
didn't just look for him, but came to him, spoke with him about the
consequences of his actions, and even assured him that despite his
horrible choice, he would still be protected wherever he went.
Just one more lie the devil tells us is that when we make mistakes, God just won't listen to us. He never gives up on us, and is far more faithful than we could ever hope to be. His love for us knows no limits.
So, why do we try to impose our own limits on His love? Guilt? Shame?
Anger at ourselves? So many times, we can make mistakes and allow
them to distance us from His grace, when the only thing we have to do is
allow Him to restore us, instead of trying in vain to restore ourselves
to regain the grace we convinced ourselves was lost.
know I've messed up more times than I can count. I've been lazy in my
faith, failed to step up at times that I needed to, and allowed myself
to drift away from your love far too often. Please help me to be more
proactive and assured in my faith, that despite the circumstances I may
have found myself in, I would have no doubt of the grace, love, and
strength that you constantly surround me with. Give me the boldness
that is needed to carry out the work you have for me, that I would be
well equipped to fulfill your will for my life. Amen.
